Alex Shi to Speak at 2026 Future of Space Policy Forum and Expo

Dr. Alex Shi, SWF Senior Program Analyst, Space Safety, will speak at the 2026 Future of Space Policy Forum and Expo, hosted by the Denver Council on Foreign Relations on October 15, 2026, at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in Denver, Colorado.

Shi will participate in the panel “Is Space an Accident Waiting to Happen? The Collision of Satellites, Debris, and Geopolitics.” The discussion will examine the risks, accountability questions, and governance challenges surrounding space debris, satellite congestion, and the growing geopolitical importance of orbital space.

The annual Future of Space Policy Forum and Expo brings together the U.S. foreign policy and space communities to address complex questions that cut across both fields. This year’s forum will consider how governments, companies, and international actors can manage risk in an increasingly crowded space environment.

Panelists are expected to discuss questions related to space traffic management, the Kessler Syndrome, accountability for orbital debris, national regulation of commercial space activity, and governance models that could support the sustainable use of space over the next decade.
