International Space Summit 2026

Victoria Samson and Dr. Almudena Azcárate Ortega will participate in the International Space Summit, taking place September 9–10, 2026, at the Grand Palais in Paris, France.

Hosted by France, the summit will bring together leaders and participants from government, international and regional organizations, the military, science, industry, civil society, local communities, and development banks. The summit will focus on shared challenges facing the space sector, including security and defense, the space economy, responsible governance, science, exploration, and the long-term sustainability of space activities.

Samson, SWF Chief Director, Space Security and Stability, will participate in a fireside chat on “Threat Perceptions,” currently scheduled for September 9 from 2:35–3:30 p.m. CEST. The discussion will examine the current strategic context in outer space.

Azcárate Ortega, SWF Senior Program Analyst and UNIDIR Space Security Programme Fellow, will participate in a pitch discussion on “Strategic Research: Ensuring Collective Security in Space,” currently scheduled for September 10 from 4:30–5:30 p.m. CEST. The discussion will examine research topics related to collective security in space, drawing on the expertise of participants from across the space community.

SWF’s participation will support its work on space security, space sustainability, responsible behavior, and international dialogue on the future of space governance.
