SWF’s Victoria Samson will speak at the inaugural conference of the Space Law & Sustainability Center at VU Amsterdam

Secure World Foundation is pleased to support the launch of the Space Law & Sustainability Center at VU Amsterdam, marked by an international conference focused on redefining space sustainability as a matter of international security.

The event will bring together legal, policy, and technical experts to examine urgent challenges facing the space domain — including debris mitigation, space traffic coordination, and governance of emerging technologies like AI and quantum systems. The agenda also explores how the Pact for the Future (UN Resolution A/RES/79/1) could inform future frameworks for space sustainability and security.

Panels will feature perspectives from the European Commission, ESA, Royal Netherlands Air Force, and Kenya Space Agency, as well as academic voices from across Europe and beyond. Secure World Foundation’s Victoria Samson will join a roundtable on multidisciplinary approaches to sustainable space governance.

The conference is hosted by the Amsterdam Law & Technology Institute and the Amsterdam Sustainability Institute. Additional partners include BHO Legal and D-Orbit.
