Event Description

SWF’s Chief Director, Space Security and Stability, Victoria Samson, will speak in the Interdisciplinary Center for Space Studies' (CIEE) Lecture Series series on “Space Security: What is it, and why is it important?” The discussion will examine how growing reliance on space services for national security, economic activity, and daily life increases incentives to disrupt or degrade space systems, and what that means for global security and stability.

What to expect

  • Overview of the current state of space security
  • Factors that weaken or strengthen space security
  • How disruptions to space data and services affect societies beyond the asset owner
  • How the international community is responding from a governance standpoint
