Secure World Foundation will participate in the Global Space Traffic Management Workshop, hosted by the University of Edinburgh and Lockheed Martin from September 1–3, 2026, at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The workshop will focus on expanding information sharing to support practical standards, best practices, and metrics for space traffic management. Discussions will examine how to broaden data and information exchange across national, coalition, and international civil and military space command and control frameworks.
Ian Christensen, SWF Senior Director, Private Sector Programs, will participate in the workshop. His participation will support SWF’s work on space situational awareness, space traffic coordination, and practical approaches for improving the long-term safety and sustainability of space operations.
The workshop will feature interactive, scenario-based discussions designed to produce community guidance on research and development, policy development, and the evolution of operational frameworks. Participants will also examine how shared insights can be translated into standards, best-practice guidelines, and measurable metrics that can be used across the global space community.
The workshop will also address outreach strategies to expose these resources to a wider audience and support effective uptake and implementation.
