Secure World Foundation has published its statement delivered under Agenda Item 5, General Exchange of Views, at the sixty-ninth session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space on June 17, 2026.
In the statement, SWF welcomes the ongoing work of the Expert Group on Space Situational Awareness and argues for a practical approach to improving information sharing. The statement notes that SSA information sharing should account for different types of information, including static, semi-static, and dynamic data, and that more frequently updated information may need more agile platforms and processes.
SWF also points to a useful role for COPUOS in defining what information should be shared and in setting principles, guidelines, and baseline expectations, while recognizing that some operational information may be better hosted through other systems. The statement also highlights the value of sharing basic operator contact information as a practical first step for coordination.
