On January 29, Secure World Foundation and the ISS National Labs co-hosted a discussion panel to explore how research conducted on the space station provides benefits for sustainability here on Earth. The session highlighted important work sponsored by the ISS National Lab that supports global efforts such as the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. This event took place at the Seti Institute in Mountain View, CA.

Krystal Wilson, Director of Space Application Programs of the Secure World Foundation moderated the discussion and speakers included John Cumbers from SynBioBeta, Marianna Grossman from Minerva Ventures, and Fatma Kaplan from Pheronym, Inc. They talked about the unique research and development being done on the ISS, the observed or expected benefits to life on Earth and the importance of maintaining a space-based platform to support this work.

This event is part of a two-part series that will continue later in the year in Washington, D.C., where we will focus more on policy and other considerations. For more information, including event materials, visit the event page here.
