Secure World Foundation will participate in a tabletop exercise on nuclear escalation dynamics in space hosted by the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Victoria Samson, SWF Chief Director, Space Security and Stability, will participate in the exercise, which will bring together subject matter experts, former government officials, and representatives from the commercial space industry.
The exercise will examine the risks and complexity posed by emerging security challenges in space. Discussion is expected to focus on nuclear escalation dynamics in the space domain, including how new space security developments could affect crisis stability and decision-making.
The event comes amid growing attention to space security issues, including the planned deployment of U.S. space-based interceptors as part of the Golden Dome initiative and reports of Russian efforts to develop a space-based nuclear weapon.
The tabletop exercise is sponsored by Longview Philanthropy and PAX Sapiens. SWF’s participation will support continued engagement on space security, nuclear risk, and the legal and policy questions raised by emerging capabilities in the space domain.
