Secure World Foundation has released a statement supporting the bipartisan Orbital Sustainability (ORBITS) Act, introduced by Senators Hickenlooper, Lummis, Cantwell, and Wicker. The Act outlines a U.S. demonstration program for active debris removal and calls for the development of uniform orbital debris standards—steps SWF sees as critical to ensuring the long-term safety and sustainability of space.
“As orbital congestion and debris risks mount, this legislation is a strong signal of U.S. commitment to responsible space stewardship,” the statement notes.
