June 2013 – UN COPUOS: Exchange of Views – Space Sustainability, Policy, and Security Dialogues

This statement showcases Secure World Foundation’s initiatives promoting space sustainability, policy development, and cooperative security solutions. Key activities include a symposium on legal and policy aspects of space cooperation between Europe and BRICS nations, a panel on “Cooperation vs. Competition in Space Activities,” and programs supporting youth engagement in space policy such as scholarships for the International Astronautical Congress. SWF co-organized the annual UNIDIR Space Security Conference in Geneva, emphasizing threats and conflict mitigation in outer space, and sponsored the 2013 Planetary Defense Conference focusing on Near-Earth Object risks. It also contributed inputs to the UN Group of Governmental Experts on Transparency and Confidence-Building Measures (TCBMs) for Outer Space.
