Secure World Foundation reports on its activities since February 2020 in support of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee. It reaffirms its commitment to space sustainability, sound space policy, and the use of space technology for human and environmental security. Key highlights include:

  • Support for LTS Guidelines:
    SWF welcomed the adoption of the 21 Long-Term Sustainability (LTS) Guidelines and supports their wider implementation. It also endorsed the formation of the new LTS Working Group under a five-year mandate.
  • 2020 Space Sustainability Summit:
    Held virtually with over 500 global participants, the Summit addressed commercialization, space security, spectrum management, and norms of responsible behavior. The 2021 Summit was announced for June 22–24, 2021.
  • MIT Collaboration:
    Co-hosted the web series “Serving Society with Space Data” with MIT, covering satellite applications for sustainable development areas like food security, energy, and governance.
  • Multilingual Handbook for New Actors:
    Released Spanish, and upcoming French and Chinese editions of the Handbook for New Actors in Space, all available as free PDFs.
  • CONFERS Leadership:
    Continued leadership in the Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS). In 2020, CONFERS updated design and operating guidelines and contributed to ISO 24330.
  • SSA and Debris Policy:
    Co-organized the AMOS Dialogue and AMOS Policy Forum, with focus on data fusion, SSA science and technology, and international collaboration on debris mitigation and space traffic management.

The statement concludes by urging continued international cooperation to maintain outer space as a peaceful and accessible environment for all.
