SWF Statement – UN COPUOS STSC, Exchange of Views: Space Sustainability and Policy Dialogues (February 2013)

This statement outlines Secure World Foundation’s initiatives across four strategic areas: space sustainability, space law and policy, human and environmental security, and planetary defense. It highlights participation in global events such as the DARPA “Sustainable Satellite Servicing” conference, SWF’s international follow-ups in Brussels and Singapore, and its new observer role at the GEO Plenary in Brazil. Additional efforts include co-organizing events with UN-SPIDER on crowdsourced mapping for disaster response, contributing to a Chile-based workshop on the socio-economic benefits of space technology, and publishing A Guide to Space Law Terms with George Washington University. SWF also supported international dialogues on transparency and confidence-building measures (TCBMs), sponsored student participation in IAC, and released the 2012 Space Security Index. Panels and roundtables in Washington and Brussels further expanded discourse on international cooperation, Euro-China space policy, and SSA governance.
