February 2010 – UN COPUOS STSC: Exchange of Views – Space Sustainability, Human Security, and Planetary Defense

This statement summarizes Secure World Foundation’s work on space sustainability, human and environmental security, and planetary defense. Key initiatives include contributing to the Space Security Index, collaborating with Ifri on a workshop examining the EU Code of Conduct and space situational awareness, and organizing a plenary at the International Astronautical Congress on achieving a sustainable space environment. SWF also produced public outreach planetarium shows on space debris and satellite life cycles, promoted community remote sensing to improve disaster management, and co-hosted a workshop on an Information, Analysis, and Warning Network for Near-Earth Objects.
