Christina Almonte

My experience
Christina Almonte is a Program Analyst focused on Space Sustainability at Secure World Foundation, and has experience in satellite regulation, space governance, and emerging space policy. She brings a unique interdisciplinary background that bridges legal practice, government service, and international development across multiple continents.
Before joining SWF, Ms. Almonte worked in various positions related to space law and regulation. With the Federal Communications Commission's Space Bureau, she managed satellite spectrum license applications and contributed to regulatory rulemaking on In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) and Supplemental Coverage from Space (SCS); at NASA's International and Space Law Practice Group, she drafted and reviewed international agreements between NASA and foreign governments; and as a Legal Scholar at the Courts of Space within the Dubai International Financial Center, she authored a white paper developing novel frameworks for government jurisdiction over multilateral commercial space stations and co-drafted Space Disputes Guide Edition 2. Ms. Almonte has also presented her research on the implications of satellite jamming and spoofing on international law and state practice at the International Astronautical Congress.
Education
Ms. Almonte holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in International Studies from Pepperdine University, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with an Air and Space Law Concentration from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Air and Space Law from McGill University, where she was awarded the Erin & John Collins Arsenault LL.M. Fellowship and competed as a quarter-finalist (North-America Round) in the IISL Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition.
Ms. Almonte’s thesis provides a comparative study of sustainable space governance globally and suggests a framework for sustainable space governance in Latin America and the Caribbean. She is a prospective member of the International Institute of Space Law and a member of the Space Generation Advisory Council. She also speaks Spanish fluently and speaks Italian, Mandarin, and Arabic at intermediate fluency.
