Event Description

“Counterspace Capabilities, Stewardship Approaches to Investing, and the Space Economy: A Conversation on Risks and Stability”

Space is a strategic, shared, and uncertain domain. As more investors and companies look to invest in next-generation technologies and capabilities, it is important to be aware of the types of risks which make this domain unique from other areas of investment. These challenges have the potential to hamper the development of a thriving space economy. This workshop will discuss strategies and tools the investment community has to ensure that space remains a stable, predictable environment. Attendees are limited to those who are already attending GSTCE 2026 and seating is limited.

Agenda

3:00pm
Welcome and opening remarks
3:05pm – 3:35pm
Secure World Foundation • February 2026
Introduction
As the space economy expands, investors help shape whether that growth remains safe, stable, and sustainable. Secure World Foundation’s Guide to Stewardship for Sustainable Value Creation explains why responsible investment, stewardship, and attention to space debris, orbital congestion, and operational risk matter for long-term value creation in the space sector. It aims to give investors and analysts actionable strategies and tools they can use to engage with their portfolio companies and fellow investors to ensure a stable operating environment.
Presenter/Moderator
SWF Executive Director Dr. Peter Martinez will present the publication and moderate an interactive discussion of its themes.
Interactive element
We are seeking feedback and engagement with the space-interested investing community, so there will be an interactive element to allow participants to give insights on the issue.
3:35pm – 4:05pm
Secure World Foundation • April 2026
Introduction
There has been growing concern about the increasing reliance on space capabilities for national security, and the corresponding proliferation of offensive counterspace capabilities that could be used to disrupt, deny, degrade, or destroy space systems. SWF’s annual report, Global Counterspace Capabilities: An Open Source Assessment, examines current and near-term future capabilities for 13 countries. These capabilities can harm the overall stability and predictability of the space domain, which can have both immediate and long-term negative impacts on space technology investments.
Presenter/Moderator
SWF Chief Director, Space Security and Stability Victoria Samson will present the publication and moderate an interactive discussion of its themes.
4:05pm – 4:20pm
Discussant takeaways
Discussants will highlight what their takeaways from the publications are and why they believe them to be relevant to those wishing to create a stable, sustainable space economy.
4:20pm – 4:50pm
