AMOS 2016 Dialogue Report

The 2016 AMOS Dialogue, held on September 22, 2016, was the fourth in a series of annual, invitation-only workshops organized by the Secure World Foundation (SWF) and the Maui Economic Development Board (MEDB). Convened during the AMOS Conference in Maui, Hawaii, the Dialogue brought together international experts from industry, government, military, and civil society to discuss perspectives on space situational awareness (SSA), data sharing, and policy coordination in a rapidly evolving space environment.

This report summarizes the closed-door discussions, which aimed to build mutual understanding around key SSA challenges, including the limitations of current capabilities, the roles of commercial and international actors, and the importance of transparency and responsible behavior in space. While all conversations were not-for-attribution, the report provides key takeaways that help illuminate areas of convergence and divergence among participants. The Dialogue series continues to offer a valuable channel for informal, trusted exchange across national and sectoral boundaries.
